about me
The fourth of five children, I was born in Memphis, TN, to (surprise surprise) an Irish Catholic family. After my parents' divorce, my mom moved the family to the suburbs of Atlanta, where I grew up. I met my wife in high school backstage in drama club, and after years of on-again-off-again we got back together and stayed together since the end of college. I earned a BA in Theatre from Georgia College & State University in 2014 and interned at Actors Express Theatre for their 2014-2015 season. When I was twenty-four years old, I wrote and directed Apocalypse Island. I went on to continue my education and earn an MFA in Creative Writing with a concentration in Fiction. As of May 2022, I have earned that degree. I studied under writers like Laura Newbern, Chika Unigwe, Kerry Neville, Peter Selgin, and Jason Allen. I workshopped with award-winning authors Carolyn Forché and Rabih Alammedine. And I worked alongside up-and-coming authors whose names I am sure will one day outshine all of those already listed. Currently, I teach high school English for gifted students and participate in local community theatre.
